DIY Natural Cleaning Tips
Natural all purpose cleaner
Many cleaning sprays contain chemicals that are used to add a strong fragrance. However, with our DIY natural cleaning tips, you can make your own scented all purpose cleaner using cheap, natural ingredients.
This homemade cleaning spray is simple to make and perfect for daily use to wipe away dust and spills.
What you’ll need:
-White vinegar
-Rosemary sprigs
-Water
-Lemon rind
-Essential oil (optional)
In a glass container (such as a jar) mix 1 part white vinegar with 1 part water. Then, simply add in a handful of rosemary sprigs and lemon rinds and mix well.
Leave the solution for one week.
After a week, give the mixture a good shake before pouring into a spray bottle. The vinegar helps to break down dirt and grime and the rosemary and lemon rinds create a refreshing, natural fragrance on surfaces. This simple homemade cleaning spray will leave surfaces with a pleasant, citrus smell without the use of any toxic chemicals.
DIY Drain cleaner
This drain cleaner is an effective way for removing the build-up of grease, dirt and grime without needing to use harsh chemicals.
What you’ll need:
-A kettle filled with hot water
-Baking soda
-White vinegar
Start by pouring a kettle of boiling water down the drain.
Then, sprinkle one cup of baking soda over the drain. Follow with one cup of white vinegar and one cup of warm water.
If possible, put a plug over the drain and let it sit for fifteen minutes.
Flush the vinegar and baking soda solution away with another kettle of hot water.
Citric acid toilet cleaner
These DIY natural cleaning tips can also help you to save time on cleaning without sacrificing end results.
Citric acid is naturally found in lemons and limes and is the reason behind their sour taste. The powder form is inexpensive and can be found in most shops. Its acidity makes it a great ingredient for natural cleaning due to its disinfecting properties and ability to kill bacteria.
Simply sprinkle a few heaped tablespoons of citric acid into the bowl and surrounding areas and leave to work for ten minutes.
Use a toilet brush to spread the mixture around the bowl and flush for a quick, effective clean.
