Fun fact: The Baroque mansion was built between 1718 and 1728 by Sir John Vanbrugh for Admiral George Delaval.
When the Delavals moved into the mansion with their 12 children, they shortly gained a reputation for hosting pranks on their guests. When guests stayed over, the Delavals would raise the bedroom walls and expose them to the public. One room was also inverted with chairs and tables stuck to the table. Drunk guests would be laid there at night and awaken to find themselves lying on the 'ceiling' with a chandelier stuck in the middle of the floor.
The garden grounds are filled with wonderful activities for all the family to enjoy. You can enjoy traditional games such as giant tower building in the secret garden as well as a range of sports equipment available for us on the south lawn. The oval garden also has a range of challenges to take part in, such as a wheelbarrow racing and sack racing with room for netball and badminton too.
The majestic building is filled with surprises for the whole family to explore. Visit the drawing room to dive deep into the past of the hall with a video game that allows you to discover the hall's history. Head to the central hall to find a giant mirrored sphere that reflects the beautiful indoor surroundings for a perfect photo opportunity.
