As well as farm animals, the park is home to wildlife ranging from lemurs and meerkats to snow leopards and armadillos. Visitors can also meet tortoises and turtles and try to spot various species of bees and butterflies across the park. The zoo also plays an important role in wildlife conservation, with ongoing projects involving snow leopards, white-clawed crayfish and european wildcats.
Throughout the year, Northumberland Zoo host themed events for families to enjoy alongside the zoo experience. For example, on World Bee Day they have beekeepers on-site to demonstrate hive inspections and teach visitors how to help bees. Over the festive period, families can purchase tickets to have breakfast with Santa in the cafe before exploring the rest of the zoo.

Alongside family-centred events, visitors can develop their photography skills through a series of photography workshops held at the zoo. The workshops consist of an explanation of the settings required on your camera before spending the rest of the day putting the theory into practice.

Between 11am-3pm, the zoo hosts daily talks by keepers to help you learn more about the animals. The animal displays and exhibits also give you the chance to get closer to the animals.
