How to remove red wine stains from carpet
For new spillages, blot the carpet with a paper towel to remove excess liquid. Then cover the wet stain with a thick layer of salt. Leave the salt to soak up the liquid and become dry.
Once dry, remove the salt with a vacuum.
For dry stains, cover the red wine stain with baking soda and spray white vinegar to create a fizzing reaction (test on a hidden area first). Sprinkle more baking soda on top to neutralise the pigments and leave the solution to dry. Vacuum the area and repeat the process if necessary.
How to remove red wine stains from clothing
Remove red wine stains from clothing by immediately pouring boiling water onto the stain. Do this by stretching the clothing over a bowl in the sink and pouring boiling water over it.
Mix a tablespoon of water with three tablespoons of baking soda until a paste is formed. Apply the paste to the stain and leave to sit for ten minutes. Wash the clothing in a normal cycle to fully remove the stain.
