Curtains
Keeping your curtains open throughout the day will make use of heat from the sunlight. Once it gets dark, close the curtains to provide an additional layer of insulation to keep the heat in. Always check for any leaks or gaps that could be letting warm air out and cool air inside.
Move furniture
Placing furniture directly in front of a radiator limits the circulation of hot air freely in a room. Move furniture away from the radiator to make the most of of your heat source at home.
Add foil
If you have a radiator attached to an external wall, place some aluminium foil directly behind it. The reflective material will prevent heat from disappearing through the wall and work to reflect any heat back into the room.
Bubble wrap
Bubble wrap is an effective way to help keep warm air inside a room. Simply spray water onto a window (that you don't need to regularly see out of) and gently place the bubble wrap over it. This will automatically stick and provide an additional layer of insulation to help keep heat in.
Top tip: Once you've finished baking or cooking, leave the oven door open to warm the kitchen. Do not do this if you have children, elderly people inside the property, or pets unless you can safely secure the kitchen.
