Laminate flooring looks like solid hardwood flooring but is made out of wood composite (sawdust pressed together) and has a thin protective layer over it. Over time, dust and dirt can accumulate, as well as scratches and marks, leaving an unsightly finish. Fortunately, laminate flooring is relatively low maintenance and simple to keep on top of. Top tip: place felt protectors under your furniture legs to protect the laminate flooring from scratches
Vacuum regularly (we recommend at least once a week) to remove dust and dirt from the laminate flooring. We recommend turning off the rotating brush to prevent bristles from scratching the floor and scattering dirt.
In between vacuuming, sweep the floor every day with a soft bristle brush. Sweep in the direction of the grain to collect dirt trapped in between the floor tiles.
Top tip:
remove scuffs on laminate flooring by wiping the scuff mark with a wet sponge and rubbing an eraser along the grain of the wood until the stain is removed
Bring the sparkle back into your laminate flooring by damp mopping it once a month. Mix one cup of white vinegar into a bucket of hot (not boiling) water and dampen the mop head, wringing it out to remove excess liquid.
We recommend using a sponge mop to reduce the risk of leaving too much water on the surface of the laminate flooring.
Gently mop in the direction of the wooden tiles, repeatedly dunking and wringing out the sponge mop to remove excess water and dirt.
Use a clean microfibre cloth to remove excess water from the floor and leave to air dry.
Top tip: remove darker stains from laminate flooring by spraying a little white vinegar onto the stain and leaving for five minutes. Wipe away with a soft cloth and repeat until the stain is removed.
