Baking soda is one of nature’s most powerful cleaning ingredients. It’s perfect for removing stubborn stains or marks on your iron.
Simply mix one tablespoon of water with two tablespoons of baking soda to create a paste.
Rub the baking soda paste over the iron plate, taking care to ensure that nothing goes into the steam holes, and leave for ten minutes. Use a soft damp cloth to gently remove the baking soda paste and reveal a shiny iron plate below.
This nifty trick is a great way to remove tough marks that have melted onto your iron plate.
Place a newspaper or a sheet of brown baking paper onto the ironing board. Sprinkle it with a thin layer of salt.
Turn the iron on to full heat, ensuring that the steam function is turned off, and gently iron over the newspaper in circles. The salt works as an abrasive and helps to remove any marks or stains.
First, wipe the iron with a soft cloth. Next, dampen the cloth with a few cups of white vinegar. Ensure that the iron is fully cooled and place it on top of the vinegar cloth. Soak for thirty minutes.
Wipe away the vinegar with a fresh, dry cloth to reveal a freshly cleaned iron plate.
Toothpaste also doubles up as a powerful scrub that will help you clean your iron. Simply rub some white toothpaste across the iron plate and use a damp cloth to rub the paste in circles.
Wipe away the toothpaste using a damp cloth and dry. Ensure that the iron is fully dry before using.
