How to Clean a Shower Head
Things you’ll need:
-Sponge
-Washing up liquid
-A small plastic bag (ideally sealable)
-Baking soda
-White vinegar
-1 lemon
-Rubber band
-Soft-bristled brush (or a toothbrush)
Tackle the dirt
Before learning how to clean a shower head effectively, it’s important to tackle the dirt and debris on the surface of your showerhead.
Apply some washing up liquid onto a damp sponge and buff the shower head in circular motions until suds (bubbles) appear.
Rinse the sponge and wipe away dirt and debris. Repeat until the top layer is fully removed.
Create a fizzing solution
Pour one cup of white vinegar into the plastic bag and add four tablespoons of baking soda and the juice of one lemon. These natural ingredients will create a fizzing reaction that will bring your shower head’s sparkle back.
Cover the shower head
Gently place the shower head into the bag, ensuring that the head itself is fully submerged in the fizzing solution.
Use a rubber band to secure the plastic bag around the shower head and leave it to sit for at least two hours.
Rinse
After two hours, remove the plastic bag and dispose of the liquid down the drain (the baking soda and white vinegar will naturally deodorise any bad smells).
Take a small bowl of warm water and submerge the shower head into it for a few minutes to remove any residue of baking soda.
If necessary, use a soft brush (or toothbrush) to remove any final debris and enjoy your sparkling shower head!
