What does white vinegar clean?
Windows
Many shop-bought glass cleaners contain alcohol which leaves stubborn streaks on windows and glass surfaces. Create your own eco-friendly window cleaner by mixing one part white vinegar with ten parts warm water and a few drops of washing up liquid.
Simply spray the mixture onto windows and use a dry soft, microfibre cloth to buff the window.
The acidic composition of this mixture efficiently breaks down dirt, grime and streaky film on windows to leave you with a spotless finish.
Toilet
Struggling to remove stubborn stains in your toilet? Rather than using bleach, try this simple vinegar solution instead.
Pour two to three cups of vinegar down the toilet bowl and leave for at least 2 hours. Then, use the toilet brush to remove stubborn rings and stains.
Not only will this remove dark stains, but the vinegar will also deodorise the toilet and remove smells.
Dishwasher
Dishwashers need regular cleaning and maintenance to prevent the build-up of soap scum. Vinegar is the ideal liquid to use to break down soap scum and get your dishwasher running well again.
Simply add one cup of vinegar to the rinse compartment and run a hot cycle. This will flush the vinegar around the dishwasher to deodorise smells and remove dirt and grime without the use of harsh chemicals.
Clogged pipes
The strong acidity of vinegar makes it a powerful liquid for unclogging pipes without having to use toxic shop-bought solutions that come with a high price tag.
Start by pouring boiling water down the drain. Then, sprinkle one cup of baking soda over the drain. Follow with one cup of white vinegar and one cup of warm water. If possible, put a plug over the drain and let it sit for fifteen minutes.
Finally, flush the vinegar and baking soda solution away with more hot water.
