Housesteads Roman Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers an insight into Roman military life. The fort was occupied by the Romans for 300 years and underwent many changes during this period. Today, the fort is well preserved and you can explore the old communal toilets and enjoy the panoramic views of Hadrian's Wall.

Chesters Roman Fort is the home to a Roman bathhouse that provided a place of rest for Roman soldiers. Today, you can explore the ruins of the spa with the remains of numerous rooms that would have had hot, cold and steam baths as well as a changing room.
The fort was excavated by John Clayton who worked to preserve these Roman sites during the Victorian Era. Today, the on site Clayton Museum is home to various Roman items found by John Clayton and features original Edwardian display cabinets from its first opening in 1896.

The Birdoswald Roman fort was added to the Wall to provide a space for 800 men throughout the Roman period.
