Top tip: always patch test these solutions on a hidden area first to check for discolouration.
Apply boiling hot water onto the dried up paint and add a few drops of washing up liquid.
Use a damp cloth to gently blot the solution in circular motions until bubbles form.
Leave the solution to soak for a few minutes until the paint softens.
Use a knife to carefully pick away at the dried paint until fully removed. If necessary, lighten the stain with a little white vinegar.
If the paint hasn’t sunk into the carpet fibres then use a razor blade to gently cut off the top layer of paint.
The easiest way to remove paint from smooth wood is by sanding it. However, sanding wood can quickly impact the overall finish of the wood so it is important to take your time with it.
Whether you choose a sander, sand paper or wired wool, take care not rub gently to avoid thinning down one area in particular.
Remove any dust using a damp cloth and top up the area with wood polish if required.
Commercial paint removers contain harsh chemicals that can melt a plastic surface. We recommend loosening any paint on plastic by using a soft sponge and vegetable oil.
Use a plastic utensil, such as a knife, to gently scrape off the top layer of paint.
As the paint starts to loosen, use a soft cloth and warm soapy water to remove the paint, scrubbing with an old toothbrush if necessary.
If there is still discolouration from the paint stain, use white vinegar to effectively remove it.
Thoroughly wet the glass to prevent any scratches. Use a sharp, metal scraper to gently peel off the paint at a 45 degree angle.
You can also create a vinegar solution to help dissolve the paint. Mix one cup of hot water with one cup of white vinegar and apply the solution to the paint stain using a sponge.
Leave the solution to soak for a few minutes then remove using a soft, dry cloth.
