Limescale is a hard chalky substance that builds in areas that come into contact with water such as taps, toilet bowls, pipes and baths. When the water evaporates, calcium and magnesium are formed on the surface. If left untreated, the build up of limescale can become stubborn and cause discolouration to surfaces. Frequent cleaning can help to prevent this.
Limescale stains can make your toilet bowl look dirty but can be effectively removed without using chemicals.
Thing you'll need to remove limescale from toilets:
Pour the lemon juice and white vinegar into the toilet bowl and use a toilet brush to ensure that all areas of the bowl are covered.
Sprinkle baking soda onto the mixture to create a fizzing reaction and leave to sit for at least one hour, or ideally overnight.
Use a toilet brush to scrub around the edges before flushing to remove the residue. Repeat this process as necessary to make your toilet bowl shine again.
Top tip: Use sandpaper to wear down stubborn limescale stains but take care to not press too hard as this can damage the bowl.
