to help you keep your property smelling great, without the need for harsh chemicals found in shop bought air fresheners. Perfect for use in the home and office, which homemade air freshener will you try first?
Why Switch to Homemade Air Freshener?
Homemade air fresheners can help to remove bad smells just as well as supermarket fresheners without using any toxic chemicals.
Even air fresheners that are branded as eco-friendly or green can include harsh chemicals such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) like benzene, formaldehyde and toluene.
These chemicals contribute to indoor air pollution and could create adverse effects such as allergic reactions and skin sensitivity.
By switching to a natural homemade air freshener, you can breathe easier in your property and save some money, too!

Coffee
Coffee doesn’t just smell good, it can also help tackle bad odours indoors.
Try sprinkling some dry grounded coffee around areas that smell particularly bad such as a bin (before putting the liner in).
You can also place some used coffee grounds into a container and leave it at the back of your fridge to absorb those bad smells.
To deodorise a room, simply dry out used coffee grounds (to prevent mould) and place the grounds into a bowl. Leave the bowl in this room until any bad smells have been removed.
Vinegar
Vinegar can help to remove bacteria and disinfect the air to naturally remove bad smells.
You can either fill an empty spray bottle with one part white vinegar to four parts water to mist into the air or simply leave some white vinegar in a bowl to absorb smells.
Simmer Pots
A simmer pot is similar to a potpourri but it is made on the stove. You can choose your favourite smells to make your property smell incredible.
We recommend using citrus elements such as lemons, limes and oranges. Simply add some slices to a pot that is filled with two-thirds of water, add your citrus and herb elements (bay leaves work well!) and leave to simmer for a few hours.
This will naturally remove many odours and replace them with delicious, natural smells.
At MMCS Commercial Cleaning, we use environmentally-friendly products to clean your property and make it smell fresh without leaving a chemical scent behind.
