Best Beaches in Northumberland
Beadnell Bay
Found just south of the quaint village Beadnell, Beadnell Bay is the perfect balance of soft, white sand and grassy dunes.
The village shops are a short walk away and offer a range of watersports equipment that you can hire or buy to enjoy in the harbour. You can also take in the views and pass through the Bay as part of a long walk along the sand dunes to the next village, Low Newton.
Beadnell Bay is dog-friendly and has a pay and display car park located at the north of the beach.
Bamburgh Beach
Also known as St Aiden Beach, this sandy beach is dominated by the views of Bamburgh Castle which has stood there since the 6th century.
This scenic beach is ideal for long walks and a spot of rock pooling. You can also bring your dog there to enjoy walks together all year round.
It has plenty of free parking surrounding the beach and the local coastal village Bamburgh.
Ross Back Sands Beach
This flawless sandy beach is a hidden treasure. To find this beach, park your car at Ross farm and follow the path through the fields until you cross the dunes to the beach.
This 1.5 mile walk (approximately 20 minutes) from your car to the beach is worth it. You can enjoy deserted, panoramic views of Lindisfarne (also known as Holy Island) and Bamburgh Castle. Keep an eye out for any seals as they are often spotted here!
Due to wildlife and cattle when crossing through the farm, you may have to keep your dog on a lead.
